SEATPLY
Bacci's contribution to the excellence of curved plywood

Over 40 years of experience, innovation and quality
Founded in 1981 in Montreal, Canada, SEATPLY quickly established itself as a leader in the production of high-quality curved plywood components for the North American contract seating industry.
The company stands out for its unique combination of engineering expertise, advanced manufacturing techniques, and unparalleled know-how in curved plywood processing — enabling it to produce complex, high-end projects with exceptional precision.
Over the years, SEATPLY has evolved into a comprehensive solution provider for chair manufacturers, producing seats, backs, one-piece shells, bucket backs, chair legs, and a wide range of custom components.

The challenge
How to optimize precision, repeatibility and productivity
As design complexity increased, SEATPLY faced a key challenge: optimizing precision, repeatability, and productivity, while maintaining the highest quality standards even at large production volumes.
The main goals were clear: Increase productivity while ensuring consistent precision over time; Reduce processing times without compromising component quality; Integrate advanced technologies for machining complex curved plywood components.
The search for a cutting-edge technological solution led SEATPLY to identify Bacci’s 5-axis CNC machines as the ideal answer.

The partnership with Bacci
High-quality geometric complexity
SEATPLY’s production process begins with the pressing of multi-layer plywood panels, which are then machined with sophisticated 5-axis CNC routers to achieve complex shapes and flawless finishes — from seats to backs, from one-piece shells to chair legs.
The first contact between SEATPLY and Paolino Bacci Srl stemmed from shared values: precision, reliability, and technical innovation. The turning point came with the introduction of the Artist, a CNC machining center that combines flexibility, precision, and efficiency.
This machine stands out for its optimized configuration, ensuring high performance at a competitive investment level, while maintaining long-term precision thanks to the fixed-bridge structure, which eliminates vibration even during the most demanding operations.
Its multi-spindle operating head allows multiple machining operations to be carried out in sequence without tool changes — minimizing downtime and boosting overall process efficiency.

THE TURNING POINT
Thanks to this technology, SEATPLY has achieved consistent and highly accurate components, even for the most complex geometries. Productivity has increased significantly, machining times have been reduced, and both tool and material usage have been optimized — resulting in a notable reduction in waste.
All of this has enabled the company to maintain high standards of quality and reliability, even across large-scale production runs.
The collaboration between SEATPLY and Bacci has since evolved into a strong, long-term technical partnership, leading to the integration of multiple Bacci machines in SEATPLY’s Canadian facilities. This has played a decisive role in further enhancing both productivity and the overall quality of SEATPLY’s products. At now, they work with eleven 5-axis machining centers, a number that continues to grow.
Another key factor reinforcing SEATPLY’s trust in Paolino Bacci is the long-term reliability and consistent quality of its machines: two of them have been operating for more than twenty years, maintaining continuous 16-hour daily production with unchanged precision and performance.

“AFTER USING AMERICAN-MADE CNC MACHINES FOR 10 YEARS, WE WERE INTRODUCED TO BACCI AND IMMEDIATELY REALIZED THAT OUR FUTURE HAD TO BE BUILT ON A LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP WITH THEIR TEAM. THE QUALITY OF THEIR MACHINES, THEIR INNOVATIVE SPIRIT, AND THEIR DEDICATION TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ARE UNMATCHED.” - LEVON AFEYAN
